At 72, Mark had gotten away from working out regularly. While Mark had been very active his entire life back problems and sciatic nerve pain motivated him to return to an active lifestyle.
“In September of 2021 I had a sciatic nerve flare up down one of my legs due to deterioration in my back. After seeing an excellent chiropractor and physical therapist for several weeks my sciatic nerve issue was resolved but they recommended I start working out regularly to strengthen my core and to maintain muscle mass as I continue to age. Mercy Health & Fitness Center was recommended to me by some friends so I got a membership starting January 1, 2022,” says Mark.
For Mark what sets the center apart from others is the cleanliness, the size of the facilities, diverse offerings of classes, equipment, swimming pools, personal trainers, friendliness and the skills of the staff.
“I look forward to coming to the fitness center now 2 to 3 times a week when in town. The fitness center is always sparkling clean and with all the windows I love how bright and open the fitness center feels. I also appreciate how large it is and even when there are a lot of folks working out, I have never had to wait in order to get my workout completed. There are plenty of weights and equipment that one of my workout stations is always open so I can complete my 1-hour workout on schedule. I also appreciate how friendly and helpful all the staff have been.”
Mark has been working out regularly the past 17 months. He feels better and has more energy than he’s had in at least 5 years. He also has had a number of very enjoyable conversations with other members and staff.
“My advice would be to come visit to experience Mercy Health & Fitness Center in person and to tour it to understand all that it has to offer. Also, stop and talk to a few of the members to get their perspective on why it is great place to workout.”
We’re happy to hear about Mark’s progress and wish him continued success with his health and fitness goals. If you’re interested in membership at Mercy Health & Fitness Center, please call 515-226-9622 or visit the Member Services desk.
